I am fairly certain this isn’t going on my TBR. Thanks for a great review of a not so great book.

I hate when books have so many plot holes and leave you confused. 613 pages to be let down would piss me off

This book definitely isn’t for me. Thanks for the in-depth review.

The makers of the movie "Valkyrie" (from around 2007) made a great complementary documentary to the film that delves into the time period between the two World Wars in Germany and how the nation has been able to acknowledge the sins of its past, allowing for new generations who had nothing to do with that part of history to be able to proceed with their lives without having to feel ashamed of being born German. At least that's my American view. It would be interesting to hear if Germans think it was an accurate documentary. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the documentary, but I do recall it also had Valkyrie in the title. I'm pretty sure we found it on Prime Video. Like you, I don't have much knowledge of the history between the two wars in Germany, but I thought this documentary to be a great introduction.

I think books that inspire thought are always worth reading, even if you don't enjoy them... But I probably still would have DNFed this book myself, sounds poorly executed, hate it when things are included and not wrapped up.
