China needs to provide a 'significant explanation' after aiming laser at RAAF aircraft

Liberal Senator Hollie Hughes says a Chinese naval ship aiming a military-grade laser at a RAAF aircraft is "absolutely appalling".

"I don't see how you see it other than a very significant act of aggression," she told Sky News host Chris Smith.

"It's very scary, it's very difficult, and I think this behaviour, if this has occurred, China needs to provide a very significant explanation, and quickly."
