Enjoy my Remix/Remaster of this pop standard with the silken baritone voice of Robert Goulet. From his 1962 Columbia album “Always You”. Happy Valentine's Day one and all!

"The Lamp Is Low" is a popular song from the 1930s. The music was written by Peter DeRose and Bert Shefter, adapted from Pavane pour une infante défunte, a piece by Maurice Ravel. The lyrics were written by Mitchell Parish.

Robert Gérard Goulet (Nov 26, 1933 – Oct 30, 2007) [Aged 73 years], was an American singer and actor of French-Canadian ancestry. Goulet was born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Cast as Sir Lancelot and originating the role in the 1960 Broadway musical Camelot starring opposite established Broadway stars Richard Burton and Julie Andrews He achieved instant recognition with his performance and interpretation of the song "If Ever I Would Leave You", which became his signature song. His debut in Camelot marked the beginning of a stage, screen, and recording career. A Grammy Award and Tony Award winner, his career spanned almost 6 decades.

About my Remix/Remaster:
I used SpectraLayers PRO-7 DeReverb to remove the original harsh overbearing spring-reverb from the vocals and replace it with a more pleasant slow stereo reverb for a better stereo image. The original engineers left Bob’s vocals fairly uncompressed, keeping it very vibrant. For the orchestra and percussion, I uncompressed their separate tracks ever so slightly and EQed them so the cymbals and strings would shimmer just a bit more. The bass was perfect. I left it alone.

I wish you could have been with me while I was working on this one. Robert Goulet’s vocal was absolutely perfect and right in-the-pocket. His laid-back phrasing is incredible! Listening to the isolated orchestra was pure joy. Frank De Vol’s arrangement was stellar! We don’t have artists and musicians like this anymore!

Technical Information:
I used iZotope RX-8 to isolate the Vocals, Orchestra, Drums & Bass into 4 separate tracks. I used SpectraLayers PRO-7 to DeREVERB the Vocals. Adobe Audition was used for Dynamic Range recovery, Delay, EQ, Reverb and final mixdown. NERO 2019 Platinum used to generate the final video.

Enjoy my High-Quality Remix/Remastering of this great pop recording of Robert Goulet singing “The Lamp Is Low", with orchestra arranged and conducted by Frank De Vol.
