Finally! I can't believe it took so long to get rid of Arpaio and his moronic policies. Maybe Penzon can reform the jails themselves too; make them safer so that no one else is strangled to death in "suicide prevention" chairs.

I want to know why tents are considered perfectly fine for the homeless and downtrodden, but not good enough for our convicts.

For those who call the tents inhumane... their were soldiers who dealt with the same tents for years in hotter conditions.. we deem it okay for the poor to live in them dont see anyone rushing to build homeless shelters for them.. but oh geez prisoners need that AC... enjoy paying for more jails out of your paychecks.. the tents were fine

I fine with people living in tents. What I am not fine with is treating people like animals that haven't been found guilty yet

It not fun to stay at "my-MCJ" (My Maricopa county jail) You will get a bad meal, it is not very clean you will hang out with a bunch of creeps.

This is inhumane! The sheriff’s reason to keep the tents was because military persons live out of tents. But military persons do that as a CHOICE! Plus, the charges that these inmates had were minor offenses.

I remember seeing this a few years ago, I thought this whole practice of Sheriff Arpaio was unethical and cruel. I really don’t care what anyone else says, If you really wanna do something about crime and reduce the Recidivism rate then you should take the money that we use to privatize prisons and allocate it to social support programs or life skill programs such actually give the inmates life skills, therapy, substance abuse treatment. Putting them in tents, especially in Arizona weather with having them wear pink to cause psychological damage is just dehumanizing.

Personally I would prefer doing time in a tent. I can deal with the heat, but not the cold. Plenty of not so fresh air.

Arpio saved millions for Arizona! That’s how they will build the new concrete prison! I thought his tent idea would be perfect for states struggling financially!

Wow yeah in 1993, people were anti crime and wanted tough tent jails. There is no way the new liberal world would let tents go back up. Now jails are more like country clubs, might as well have a golf course and tennis court.

I guess the best way to settle this is let Arpio stay a few weeks in the tents himself. Then he can talk about how great it is!

Jail is not supposed to be fun. Here is an idea lets close down a jail that costs the tax payers less money and charge them more to open a new jail to make the criminals feel more comfortable. Why not add a spa day civilians can afford it. #weneedanewsherrif #brigbackjoe

For those of you who think the tents should stay up, it can get over 115 degrees in the summer. I'm sure some have died from heat stroke and was kept on the down low.
