By the end of this short video, you'll be able to recognise the subtle difference between the two words.

Here are the phrases included in this video:
• Entiendo el problema
• Comprendo el problema
• Entiendo tu tristeza
• Comprendo tu tristeza
• Entiendo lo que estás diciendo
• Pero no comprendo por qué lo dices

Make sure you watch the full video to hear a full explanation about the contexts in which these verbs are used. We've provided subtitles in English which can be turned on using the Subtitles/CC button.

Gracias. Ahora creo que entiendo más mejor cómo usar entender y comprender. Comprender es muy sutil y más personal.

Thanks for the lesson! I really thought that entender was best to say to understand.

Comprender is actually more use in deep conversation if you know or have more confidence or have a long time of relationship with your friend, so in that case you can properly use the word " comprende, comprender". You can't say Comprende or comprender with whoever.

Very rude to ask if I or they "comprende" ....is so much better to say "entiendo or entender ", actually sounds the last one much better. There's no sugar cover on this definitely
