Have always been scared to do this, have changed radiations in the past. However I have avoided changing the valves. So clear on how to do it, thank you.

Thanks for this video Mark, it was really insightful and gave me the confidence to tackle the job. One small issue I ran into was I couldn't get the old olive off the radiator tail/spigot so was unable to reuse it, forcing me to replace it and the new one I got in the pack with the TRV was a few millimeters too short to provide a good seating into the valve. In your video you mentioned you can get longer tails/spigots and cut them down to size, which is a good solution but I also found a telescopic tail (Screwfix 10954) which can be adjusted to be just the right length. This allowed me to get a good seating between radiator tail and value! Not sure if you've covered it in previous Q&As but I'd like to know if the process is any different in a downstairs radiator on a combi boiler system?

Hi Mark,
I'm looking to replace all of my radiators in my house (total of 8), would it be best to just drain the whole system or follow the steps of draining each radiator individually? I have a combi boiler system.
Thanks

Hi Mark, Merry Christmas. I’m just in the process of refitting some radiators and am having trouble fitting one of the new valve tails! It looks like the original valve wasn’t fully inserted and the thread is now rusty/dirty black ? The new tail will only turn a couple of times before it stops dead! I’ve cleaned out all the old ptfe tape and also tried cleaning the thread with wire wool but still unable to fit the tail fully! Please can you advise on what can be done so I can fit tail fully. Thanks Spencer

Hahaha good video apart from the obviously sped up footage of him showing how ‘’fast” he can change a radiator valve! Like a Buster Keyton film!

I have a flame failure on my boiler and it won't let me build the pressure up. Any ideas please Mark ? I followed everything, I have a combi boiler in my loft and the radiator valve I was replacing was on the ground floor in the living room.

Mark can you use a manual valve either side of the radiator, ie the thermostat and lock shield side. Are they any different, because in Wickes they sell a valve with the thermostat top and a lock shield top with it. Peter

I wish to replace the valves on two cast iron radiators which are on the same line of pipes for TVR valves. I have shut off valves further up the pipes in the same room. Any tips on how to replace the valves?
