HP Pavilion Aero 13 Review - Smart Buy

Lisa Gade reviews the HP Pavilion Aero 13, a 13.3” Ultrabook that packs a lot of high end features into the typically budget-friendly Pavilion laptop line. This is an AMD Ryzen Zen 3 exclusive PC with a 16:10 aspect ratio, bright IPS display and a premium magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis you’d expect to see on the more expensive HP Envy line. The Aero 13 weight just under 1 kg /2.2 lb, yet it’s rigid. It’s available with full HD+ and QHD+ 2560 x 1600 matte displays, has a fingerprint scanner, Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 CPU options with Radeon graphics and is Windows 11 ready.

A nice little machine with a 500 nits matte display? Sounds like a winner!

Almost a perfect laptop for the price. Not many compromises, like most. For me, though, if only it had black keys. I struggle with the silver keys with white back lighting, as there is no contrast.

This went down to $549 for the base model. The 5600u with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD came to $599. Unbeatable deal. Unfortunately, it hasn't gone back to that price since last holiday season.

Using for 1 month in R5 version. It has long lasting battery. I use for coding (Visual Studio 2022) and perform so good and it goes for 7-8 hours . And in my country, Indonesia we get 65w charger by default.

Wow HP don't want you getting inside that machine do they! Also very refreshing to see a machine in this sort of class that has above a 300 nit display!

Well... this has to be one of the BEST laptops you can get for only 600 US$. Got a Pavilion for my son for school and I'm so glad HP doesn't cheap out on the screen.

I would never understand manufacturers who uses rubber strips and cover the screws. No need to beautify something that we will barely see. Accessibility is more important.

Really wanted this to release sooner, ended up back to team Apple on MacOS during a BestBuy sale on Mac Book Air M1 base model. Looks like a dream thin-and-light laptop, hope for more generations of this model in future since I'm guessing this is the first "Aero" from HP?

Nice little machine until HP quietly phased out the magnesium aluminum casing, and phased in an all plastic shell after the reviewers posted their love for the build quality. I tried to return within the 30 day window, expressing my disappointment with the bait and switch tactic. HPs response? They enforced a 15% restocking fee. So that others don't make the same mistake, the only pavilion aero sku available today through HPs online store has an all plastic shell, and they use a very cheap plastic.
