CNAs ensure the well-being of their patients by performing a variety of tasks that help with daily living activities. Because CNAs typically spend more time with patients than nurses or doctors, they understand their behaviors and health statuses.

Whether identifying decreased mobility, increased pain, or memory issues, CNAs play important roles in the early detection of symptoms and may identify issues that other healthcare personnel do not.

Is a CNA Considered a Nurse?
As their titles imply, certified nursing assistants "assist" nurses and other physicians rather than working as official nurses themselves. That said, CNAs are vital members of the nursing profession.

Where Do CNAs Work?
CNAs work in various healthcare settings, including general and specialty hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and rehabilitation facilities.

As a CNA, you have an abundance of options Now that you’ve gotten an overview of what the job of the CNA involves, there are other things you probably want to know about the career as well.

I want to quit my job as an electrician been doing it 17 years. I just don’t want to do it anymore somehow being a CNA sounds like it’s a really rewarding. Awesome job. I know I’ll be taking a big pay cut, but honestly I’d rather be happy

Nursing homes are usually always short staffed, which means cna's will have a heavy patient load and sometimes no help. You will be called to come in on your day off, and /or find yourself sleeping on your day off from exhaustion. Patients are becoming sicker and more obese. This is a high stress job and can bring on depression, mood changes, unhealthy eating habits, and wear and tear on the body. Working full time under these conditions for a long period of time is unhealthy for spirit soul and body. Please use wisdom and caution if you are entertaining the idea of entering into the cna field.

Based on my personal experience of being an inpatient at large care and treatment hospital in Toronto, ON Canada the information shared is not accurate. Certified Nursing Assistants or Personal Support Workers do not spend any sort of significant time engaged in patient care. In fact, my observation of the CNA s was to minimize the time spent on direct care. It is not true or factual that they are part of the primary care team(s). They are not qualified to administer medication or monitor vital signs. What I witnessed was the resentful attitude most of the assistants felt about patients who needed daily assistance. For example, any patients requiring bathing and diaper changes were treated with disdain.
The Assistants did not play any significant role in reporting pain issues to nurses or doctors. This profession is now considered a speedy way to enter Canada and the US. Period!!!
