I swapped my 2005 outback xt with a JDM EJ20X, with nothing else changed just the engine installed. I have been driving the car, with little to no issues.

Just bought a 2005 baja turbo auto with this swap. It runs great. Has good low speed power in first gear. Haven't had long enough to see if it lacks power when cold or not though. I always let it warn before I drive. Believe I'm running the factory baja 2.5 intake, exhaust and turbo as my intake is metal. A dealer did the swap right before I purchasedit. Guessing the AVCS isn't hooked up on my car. Still has awesome power though.

I need help I have an 2009 Outback XT with the ej20 swop however I have the Christmas dashboard with blocking check engine and the Machinic who did the swop left a lot of stuff unplug

Did you have a tune done? did you use the stock vf40 turbo instead of the twin scroll. Thanks

U might be having these power issues because you left the AVCS on the exhaust retain the same profile as if it was still on a JDM ECU it probably is regarding the power.

I'm thinking about doing this swap, did you change the exhaust cam timing by one tooth like I see a lot of other guys doing? Never mind I searched your other videos, lol

This is my same exact car, ‘05 Outback XT, even the same color. My 215K mile engine is done. I’m looking at doing this same swap. Other than backing up the exhaust gears 1 tooth, did you do anything else for timing? Thanks for the info..

What about the AVCS timing on the exhaust cams? did you have to retard it 2 teeth on each side or did you just keep it as it was?
