We cannot solve these problems so why do we keep deluding ourselves that we can? Our participation in UN "peacekeeping" is just a self-inflicted Sisyphean task at this point. As it would be towards the idealistic plans of an EU army. Remember the song "we didn't start the fire"? - its what comes to mind about all of this. We should be 100% committed and focused to our own national interest, it may sound selfish but a nation of our size can do little to stop those committed to war regardless. We, as a point of fact, have no influence in the Middle East, Ukraine or anywhere else so what is with all the pretense? We should really give up on the performative actions of the UN, if people want to do aid work they should be free to do so privately, but when we don't have a proper Navy or armed forces ourselves to secure our homeland from gangs then we are really just wasting time at best and could very well be agitating local forces that in the end understand the region better than we do.
