Sunroof Initialization - For BMW's

If your sunroof moves is small increments or not at all, it may need to be initialized. I'll show you how. It's super easy!
-Works for all BMW's from 2006 - Present.
-Car shown. 2018 X3
-The sunroof control module called the SHD is built into the electric motor. Initializing teaches the SHD the end stop positions by analyzing the amperage increase. Once initialized, not only does the system operate with one touch operation, but it also has anti-trap feature. If while using the sunroof you happen to get fingers or a limb in the way, the SHD senses an amperage spike and will back off in the opposite direction to prevent harm.

I did this recently for my wife’s E84 due to flaky BMW battery with a bad cell (only two years old).
She couldn’t get the shade to close…drove her crazy!
I was surprised not to find this in diag software. It needed to be done via the physical button as you demonstrated.
Btw new ‘new’ battery solved the initial oddity with the sunroof and other odd cluster icons appearing intermittently.

After trying all the steps, unfortunately, they didn't work for my G80 330i. I visited the nearest BMW dealership, and even they couldn't resolve the issue. Eventually, they diagnosed a motor problem and replaced it at a cost of R12000 (approximately USD 630). Fortunately, I am still covered by the motorplan, so I didn't have to bear the expense. Hi Mike my sun roof opens and closes. I tried holding for 40 seconds but the mesh part does not close over the glass. Everything else works though... any idea?

I did not work, I tried to open my suroof and now it’s closed but it has a little gap open and my screen says that it needs to be initialized and I’ve pressed the bottoms and it still does not work :/ can you help?

I hade problems with sunshade and I tried do reset like u did in the video but know I have more problems. Now the roof just want to tilt and nothing else works. The heard some clicking noise when I tried to reset and after that I got more problems 😢
