Hey guys! So I know this may be old news BUT.. Clinique Black Honey has only just launched in SA. I know right!! What took them so long? Today I'm comparing to Burt's Bees lipbalm in Red Dahlia. Is it a dupe? Let me know what you think!

I remember the day the Clinique lady tried to get me to try Black Honey as a teen in the late 90s. I've always had two on hand since. I did randomly buy a Burts Bees in a chemist a few months ago and my first thought was a 1/5 of the price black honey. Now i keep it in my pocket as an everyday dab on my boring natural lip shade.

both give me a nice tint but the Clinique one gives me long lasting hydration, way more than the Burt's Bees one, it was a nice investment

I rocked Black Honey in the 80s...along with big hair and peplum jackets. Now, I will go for Burt's Bees.

I love Burt's Bees lip products. I tried Black Honey and Burt's bees Daisy for a dupe. The red dahlia is a better dupe.

It’s a classic fall/Autumn colour! I like the Black Honey case, however I think I prefer the Burt’s Bee’s moisturizing properties, especially during the colder months!

Try Burt's Bees LIP SHIMMER (pencil-thickness, more pigment) in fig.

Just because they look similar for some people I do not think it is a real dupe. The uniqueness of Clinique's black honey is that it looks different for everyone and it actually looks good on everyone. That is why I do not think there's an actual dupe to it. To be a real dupe it should have that very tricky universal adaptability and none of the proposals I have seen so far do it. That is why I have given all of my friends a Black Honey at one point or other, but I would never dare to give them another lipstick that might not favour them.

Your GREAT source of info! I love the Burts bees balm but their lipstick is horrible lol I hate to say it but Clinique wins lol

IMHO, if you are only looking at the price, Burt's Bees is going to win the race. If you are looking for pigment and you don't have the palest lips in the world, Burt's Bees lip balm in Red Dahlia loses pretty badly. I am a white brunette with rosy lips and Red Dahlia adds zero color to my lips. Even after 10 swipes.

Its close.. also they changed the packaging for Burts Bees also and now its not as pigmented. I have both for comparison...

I see a big pigment difference, don’t see it as a small difference.
What I would find interesting is how long do both pigments stay on your lips, and do either one stay on when you drink? That could also make a difference in choosing one over the other.

Yes!!! 🤹‍♀️☮🌴 Bought this and several other colors when it first came out!! They must have dropped all' the other colors. My daughter-in-law told me that it was supposed to look different on everyone. She was only a child when I bought it originally...ha ha.. true!!😚 I love Burt's Bees also, both Fig and Watermelon are my colors.
