I was at the hotel that they FCC sued the same time that the de-authing was going down. I had a white hat friend who pointed it out to me. We basically did what you said in this video to get our wifi working again. (Yes they can de-auth your personal hotspots from your phones!)

While commercial devices like the modded flipper run a reasonably marked up price, the parts which comprise the flipper do not. For example, Amazon offers the esp8266 dev board for ~$3/unit in bulk. Also wifi dev boards can be used for nearly anything wifi related, they can repeat wifi signals, and even be used for wireless inputs and arduino.

Bought it months ago, still use it.
My house TVs, my fan, when at work for the projectors, got all the amibos for the switch, use it as a Bad USB (on videogames that require repetitive key press), also as a U2F, and a couple more things. Now on the other hand the Wifi part.. i used it once for 20 min and even 3d printed a case for it but it just sits there.

Also worth noting, this currently (deauth) works on 2.4GHz connections. Most decent routers etc support 2.4GHz AND 5GHz, with 5GHz being the preferred connection. It's only "older" devices, or IOT things especially like smart lights, smart sockets (Think Sonoff etc), some CCTV etc that are 2.4GHz only. It's not as dangerous as people make it seem. Myself, and most of my family and friends all have 5GHz in use and as the primary connection, so these attacks would be useless.
