Megamind knew that those powers were not his to control. His strength was not of the body, but of the mind. To imbue himself with those powers would have torn him asunder, birthing something neither hero nor villain. It would have been simply...a monster.

Could’ve been a killer sequel tbh. Have Megamind feel like he can never live up to being the beloved hero that Metroman was and maybe have people still be afraid of the looks and effects of some of his formerly evil weapons.

Maybe have Megamind convince himself that he needs to look the prt of a hero and have heroic powers to be the hero, just as he needed to do the opposite when he was a villain. Have him infuse himself with Metroman’s DNA this time and make it about him finally moving past his identity issues, discovering facts about his home planet, and making peace with Metroman.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with this ending. Megamind wouldn't be nearly as easily corrupted by metro mans powers as anyone else.
The man already had super intelligence for years and when metro man retired dude had the run of the city till he got bored.
