Walking Tour: Bakar, Croatia - 4K UHD

Bakar is an interesting and quite atypical Adriatic town located in idyllic Kvarner bay near Rijeka, one of the largest Croatian ports. Because of its Yugoslav industrial history Bakar still bears a certain stigma of a run-down industrial port but in the last few decades it has managed to transform itself into a very attractive though little known tourist destination. This unique mix of the natural beauty of Adriatic sea, quaintness of the labyrinthian old town overlooking the bay (13th - 18th c.), rich maritime heritage since at least the times of Austro-Hungarian Empire (18th - 20th c.) and titanic remains of the more recent Yugoslav heavy industry (1945 - 1991) is exactly what makes Bakar so unique and a truly worthwhile travel destination.

Thank you for sharing this video. I was there in the late 80s and early 90s, when it was still Yugoslavia.
My father's ship was docked in that port full of ore. I was a child, but I remember many things.
I even made a friend there who tried to escape on the ship, but they found out and he had to disembark, haha.
