First Attempt with the Polyend Play! (Sunday Sessions #128)

Welcome to Sunday Sessions, where the script is tossed out and we get right into the jamming! Today, I decided to use the Polyend Play for the first time! I just got home from Knobcon, and my Polyend rep was kind enough to send me home with a Play, so before I can even put the factory content onto it and start learning, I figured it might be fun to jam a bit with some random drum samples I had laying around. I'm completely new to the Play (hopefully that's obvious by this video), so any tips or advice you might have for me is much appreciated! Enjoy the jam :)

Thanks to Polyend for providing me a Play for...play!

I can tell you were having fun when you started kind of dancing along. Admittedly the Polyend Play never really made a ton of sense to me, but I'll be interested to see what all you do with it.

It strikes me in some ways to be similar to an Elektron Model:Samples, at least at a functional level, but with a more visual and intuitive sequence section (and with a much better display!). Of course, the cost is much higher -- closer to the price of the Digitakt, but maybe too, that's a better comparison?

I've found the play to be very fun, but also kind of strangely underpowered for its price/place in the market. Hope you have a good time with it! The variations make it really simple to just play around for a while on a rhythm.

Have you heard of the 5 moons from critter and Guitari? Seems like it would be right up your ally. They got a pretty cool mic also.

To me, the Polyend Play and the Deluge look similar in workflow. Any future comparisons possibly? It looks pretty immediate and fun.

I had hoped you were able to get the stock samples by now.

Having used neither device, form afar it looks like a Deluge in a way. Sequence multiple instruments, select the tone or whatever on the pads on the right.
How wrong am I to compare the two ?
