2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid: 5 Important Demonstrations Before You Buy | Driving.ca

I recently spent 1,400 kilometres at the wheel of the new-for-2022 Hyundai Tucson Ultimate Hybrid while writing and shooting several projects for TV and web. My testing included a pair of 425-kilometre highway trips, extended use on trail and backroad surfaces common in rural Northern Ontario, and some observations on my tester's use by a rapidly-growing family with two young kids as a test of storage space and passenger volume.

Below, I've summarized my key impressions for in-market shoppers considering the Tucson Hybrid, and I hope they'll help you to confirm or question your purchase decision.

If you're considering a Tucson Hybrid like my tester, a $41,600 Ultimate Hybrid AWD, you're headed in the right direction. It's an excellent machine that drives value-for-the-dollar in several important ways — but there are two weaknesses you'll want to be aware of, too.

Hands down - best car journalist I’ve seen on YouTube (and beyond!) This review was so refreshing, all the basics, really relevant to the people who might be looking to buy this car, practical demonstration of space, time lapse video (really great aspect of review), positive but not sugarcoated, just an honest, balanced and well presented/filmed review - plus a demonstration of the light system at night - so helpful. I am looking forward to my test drive later this week. Many thanks and best wishes

I've had my Tucson Hybrid Limited for four months now and it impresses me every time I drive it. I agree with the review for the most part. I traded in my 2016 Tucson Limited for the 2022 and the difference is very dramatic. In fact, it feels like a completely different vehicle. The ride is much better than before and the quietness is very impressive. In my opinion, the interior and exterior styling is much more contemporary than the competition (Rav-4, Rugue, Escape, etc). I have driven several different hybrid vehicles over the years and this Hyundai hybrid drive train is amazingly smooth. You don't hear or feel any weird noises or surges when its shifting from electric to gas mode. Would I buy this vehicle again? ABSOLUTELY!

I have a 22 Tucson Hybrid and here's my two cents: just buy, it's perfection!

I just purchased a 2022 Tucson Hybrid, and I have to say that it is an amazing vehicle. Last night was the first time I had driven it in the dark, and the headlights are AMAZING. I’ve NEVER been able to see so well at night! And the automatic dimmer is incredible!

The load floor has a lower and an upper level position so there is no issue. You just need to choose the position best suited to your load needs: Lower for extra height and the Upper for a smooth floor level with the seats and bumper.

In the US - The limited edition has an auto high beam - will go on when there is no incoming traffic and turn off automatically when there is - by far a fantastic car with a great ride, excellent acceleration, and even better 5-year warranty. Also, the back area height is adjustable, you can adjust the floor to match the level of the tail gate opening. I Highly recommend

Just got done with a 2800 (4 days driving, up to 9 hours nonstop except for gas), mile road trip 80% highway mostly on 70mph adaptive cruise with my Hybrid Blue. Trouble free and right on the money 38 mpg. Blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise are wonderful. The only negative I can offer you is that there is a lot of exposed paint on the front of the car. Major bug collector and potential paint chip problem. A black bumper to match the rear might have been a better choice. Oh, and Android Auto is absolutely useless. It is a bad, bad poorly designed app but that has nothing to do with Hyundai.

Let me tell you, Justin, this is nthe most concise and practical car review I've seen. You get to the critical points quickly and emphasize the right Stuff. I really liked the Time Lapse playback. This vehicle is under serious consideration to replace our 2016 CRV Touring with 37K miles on the clock. The only item I would offer, is the Resale Value. As of now, Honda is difficult to beat. 2 Dealers that I shopped (looking at a 2021 CRV HYbrid Touring as well), offered appx $21K to $22.5 K for the 2016 CRV. After 5 years, where we paid $36, 000 in May 2016, is extremely good. I don't think a Hyundai deal would offer that much, however, I have not shopped that aspect of a deal yet. I have been unable to test drive a HYundai Tucson Hybrid, as they go right out the door as soon as they get one in.

I have my Tucson Hybrid 3 months and 21000 km - long trip from West Coast to East and back.
Best efficiency is in city driving ( below 6l/100km) but on the hwy is about 7.5 - 8 l/100km ( above 120 km/h).
On the long drive is best cruise control and line assist - looks like auto pilot buy need attention.
Other safety futures are very useful ( emergency braking, parking in tight spot) were triggered many times on the long trip. Space is good - in emergency I sleep in the cars instead in the tent during heavy rain. Lower parts of trunk is very useful - can keep plenty of junk needed for long journey.
I traded 2019 Tucson for Hybrid and I do not regret.

My wife and I have just ordered the new 2022 Tucson hybrid Ultimate on August 14th. We have not heard of any arrival timelines at this time but was informed about 3 months depending on microchip issues. I found this video very helpful. We are seniors without kids or pets so we wanted front seat comfort. We really liked the miles per gallon as gas is going up soon. The front passenger front seat adjustments was the main reason for the Ultimate purchase. I wanted my wife to be comfortable especially for these old bones. I appreciated the rough road test completed on this video along with the night head lights. The rough road test will not be a factor in our driving location and habits but found this beneficial. Very clear and honest review. Thank you.

As someone who’s also 6’4 with a tall wife and a very tall nearly 5 year old boy, this video answered a lot of questions I had. Interior space was my biggest concern, especially since I’ll be coming out of a 2011 4Runner.

Thank you for the review of these areas. I was particularly glad about the headlight demo at night because you're right about not usually being able to try them out until after purchase. Happy to see they perform well.

Really great information here. Other reviewers may have more production value in the video itself, but this review is full of more useful information and thoughtful insights. Well done!

My 2022 Tucson Hybrid Ultimate is my 5th new Crossover since 2011 and by far its the best. Purchased Nov 21 and I have driven over 10000 miles and my gas mileage has averaged 43+ per Imperial Gallon. Every time I drive it I am impressed and before Covid I used to average more than 25000 miles per year and now things are better i look forward to driving that many miles next year when I can return to doing all my trips. I also enjoy not having to plug it in like my last Hybrid. By far my best Crossover yet, thankyou Hybrid!

I’m so glad to see all these good reviews, especially about gas savings I am getting the ultimate hybrid next month and was starting to get scared because I saw people on the Hyundai forum all complaining about the mpg

I’ve owned many different makes of cars, Mercedes Toyota, VW and my favourite brand being Honda. I now own a Tucson Ultimate Hybrid and I’ve gotta say it’s my favourite vehicle I’ve ever owned. Smooth ride, very quiet, great mileage and it’s so loaded with options I was still discovering new features after owning it a few months.
I’m getting about 6.1 km per 100km in the City and 7.5 km on the highway which I think is great for this size of vehicle. On the highway I’m usually going about 120 km per hour so 7.5 isn’t bad.
I leased the Tucson for three years but if it stays dependable I’ve already decided I’m not giving it back I’m buying it out.
