UK Parliament has passed PM Rishi Sunak's flagship Rwanda bill, after a late-night sitting and months of wrangling.

Plans to send some asylum seekers to Africa have met with fierce criticism, but the bill passed on Monday when the Lords dropped their opposition.

Sunak said in a statement "nothing will stand in our way" now of getting flights off the ground.

But the scheme could still be held up by challenges in the courts.

"Frankly, Rwanda has more sunshine compared to UK. May migrants enjoy their daydream there." Sunak, the PM, says.

Did they ever stop to consider what Rwandans feel about having their home be the destination of refugee influx?

I don't know why nobody is talking about the financial incentive for Rwanda. The current government budget for Rwanda is $4.4b. Lets say Rwanda takes 50 000 migrants initially as planned that means for the initial batch Rwanda may receive up to $10.5b which is almost two and a half times the government spending.

This is the new form of human trafficking. The only difference is that its done by a government.

Lots of British citizens would choose to go to Rwanda from their slum dwellings in the UK. I can say Rwandan food is delicious, the people are very polite and friendly the women are beautiful in their traditional costumes.

Anyone boarding a flight to Rwanda from the U.K. has a one way ticket. If the U.K. doesn't want those people arrest them, deport them and ban them from entry. Why is the U.K. putting on this show when everyone knows it's just an expensive way to deport people ?

Please be aware that this is all funded through our taxes and will cost billions in the next few years. The logical solution is prevention of people from crossing borders and having a steadfast stance on not giving socialised care for ALL asylum seekers. The harsh reality is that Western countries cannot solve all the problems of the world. Resources are finite and the future unfortunately seems bleak with regards to uncontrolled migration further worsened due to climate change and economic instability in 3rd world countries.

It isn't controversial. They have come through safe countries where they could have claimed asylum. Most are economic migrants, able to pay thousands to travel. You apply for a visa if you want to come here, they think that they don't have to obey the countries laws.
The country is full, go away.

But Rwandan refugees remain stuck in neighbouring countries and abroad. They refuse to return to Rwanda for safety reasons, many are even embedded in Ugandan settlements and have been there for generations. So its bizarre that it would be a destination for refugees. Why can't they peacefully collect its people scattered in settlements and camps across the world and house them in those hostels.

I am an African from Ghana but I support this move. Way to go UK. I wish USA will implement the same law.

The vastly overpopulated United Kingdom is in such a serious state of decline and decay in so many different areas and this mass invasion of immigrants is contributing massively, detrimentally and negatively to the myriad of problems we as a nation are now confronted with.

The only controversy is that it hasn't been passed yet or that we let them in in the first place.

These people won’t settle in Rwanda. Most will leave to other countries.

What does the Rwandan govt. stand to gain directly from the UK govt.? This is supposed to be a "deal", right? Why does this reporting appear to gloss over this bit of detail? Reason for the question? Well, it might reveal the motivation behind Rwanda govt's acceptance and involvement as per this deal.

A Brexit benefit after all!!! All this debacle could’ve been avoided completely! During Brexit Boris the dummy had the opportunity to renegotiate the Dublin agreement as offered by EU but he decided NO and said “we’d have our own” scheme all too much of a hurry to “get Brexit done” …. Such incompetence is breathtaking.!!!
