The DC-10 was the reason I loved aviation

I'm a retired Continental Airlines flight attendant and I worked on the DC-10 for many years. It was my personal favorite of all the a/c we had in our fleet (our 707s and 757s were my next loved the Pub we had on our DC10s, located between F/C and Coach classes. Continental was known as the Rolls Royce of air carriers and our DC10s were quite the Rolls Royce! I miss it.

Lots and lots of people hate this plane but more people love it including me even I never got to see it in real life

For me there are two standout aircraft from that era the DC-10 and VC10. As a young teenager would stare at these aircraft as the majestically graced the sky.

As someone who’s loved aviation for quite a while I’m sad majority of the DC-10 passenger service was gone by the time I was born, and I am also sad to hear the KC-10 will be retired by the U.S. Air Force. This is my favorite trijet of all time. RIP DC-10, you will be missed by all.

I think the downfall of the DC-10 was caused by American Airlines short cutting maintenance procedures that precipitated the Chicago crash of flight 191. After that event the DC-10 was looked at by all as an unsafe aircraft, which was really not the case!

When I was in the Navy in 86, I flew on a Western Air DC 10 from L.A to Honolulu to catch my ship in Pearl Harbor. The Stewardess served Champagne on the flight and one was real cool with my buds and I. She gave us a couple of extra bottles and they were snuck off the plane. We later enjoyed them in the airport waiting for a bus ride to Pearl Aloha !!!

I spent many a day and night loading the MD-10-10 / MD-10-30 and the DC-10-10 / DC-10-30 for FedEx. She was a total beast and I loved working them. It was always an amazing experience hearing those fans screaming on takeoff. They were great planes and did whatever we asked them to do. Now we’re seeing the MD-11 heading towards its twilight as well. Thanks for the great video tribute to this awesome machine. Those of us that worked, maintained and flew them will always love them.

I saw a UPS MD-11 at my airport. DC-10 and MD-11 are practically identical

Worked as cabin crew on the DC10. Great aircraft, loads of space and a really roomy cabin. A quite and very civilised way to fly. When British Airways took over British Caledonian it was the only aircraft they kept, says something

What a striking look for an aircraft with the engine straight thru the tail at the time and I got to fly American's DC-10 once in my life in '76 PHX to SFO.
