I was born 1970, I grew up with 1st world war and 2nd world war veterans around me, as time passed those great war soldiers disappeared and now there are very few WWII soldiers left to guide us. This saddens me greatly. Thank you for these great videos. We must never forget. ❤

I love these. It makes me think about all of those who have been where we are in the moment. Not just ww2 but all of human history, you could be standing where wars were fought, friends parted ways, people fell in love, children were born, legends were written but because of the unstoppable force of time we would never know. Its just another street corner like in the photos.

The city I was born in Rotterdam centre was flattened during WW2 and it took decades for it to being rebuild. I've never ever liked the city. My X Father-in-Law was one of the very few survivors over the battle of the bridge in Arnhem. He was interviewed by Hollywood researchers for the making of the movie "A Bridge too far". He lived the rest of his life with 2 bullets in his body that were too dangerous to be removed.

This is an example of why the internet can be a good thing. A reminder of the atrocities that we create and the stunning ability of humanity to create beauty.
