Iran deputy minister shot dead in capital

Iran's deputy minister of Industries, Mines and Trade in Parliamentary Affairs Safdar Rahmatabadi was shot dead in an apparent assassination in Tehran on Sunday evening (November 10), according to state news agency Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
According to IRNA, an unidentified terrorist shot the deputy minister as he was riding in his Peugeot passenger car from Sabalan Square in the capital toward East Janbazan (Golbarg) street. Eyewitnesses said the shooter fired two shots, striking Rahmatabadi' in the chest and head. The event took place at around 7:50 p.m. Tehran time, about two and half hours after sunset.
Officials who rushed to the scene said the shots were fired from inside the vehicle as there was the windows were not broke and shell casings were found inside the car. Police also said there were no signs of any physical altercation or struggle.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
This is the second attack recently on a government official in Iran. On Wednesday, a gunman killed a state prosecutor in the southeastern region of Iran, near the border with Pakistan.
