Denis Villeneuve once said, "“I didn't turn to science fiction, I went away from it" when responding to why he got into science fiction after doing budget dramas early in his career. In this video, we will take a look at the journey to making DUNE and becoming one of this decade's best Sci-fi directors.

VIDEO NOTE: First, I apologize about the pronunciation. We did some research into it and I just got the wrong impression about how it was said. Kind of sucks because I really did try to find the correct way he says it, but now realizing I probably should start learning some French 😂 anyways, thanks for being patient with an English speaker such as myself and I'll definitely revert to traditional French pronunciation in the future. See below where we got a bit confused 🥲

The latter half there is an "eh" or "ay" he adds. I try and go for the way our specific subject says the name. I also could have misunderstood the over annunciation of the "v" in the word, if so my bad!

I'll stick with the traditional French pronunciation in the future. My bad but also just wanted to let everyone know we did try and research it, just maybe tried a bit too hard on it 😂

Slightly frustrating to have this distract from a cool story about a cool director. Appreciate everyone watching!

Blade Runner 2049 was a religious experience for me in the theater

Blade Runner 2049 was criminally underrated, in my opinion.

Pronunciation key:
Denis: The Knee

Bonus tip: consonants at the end of words are usually silent in French

Villeneuve:
- Ville as in margaritaville
- nuh
- ve as in could’ve

He is the Kwisatz Haderach of Sci-Fi. It is the legend.

how refreshing it is for a director to LOVE his source material when making the film... and it shows in the quality so so well

Best director of our time. Sicario. Prisoners. The Arrival. Blade runner 2049. Dune.

Blade runner 2049 was not a commercial success but it culturally succeeds. You always see the Ryan Gosling dead stare on the I can fix you Scene up until now. And you can watch over and over again and still awe inspiring.

2049 is the greatest cinematic experience I've ever had. Seeing that in 3D blew my mind in a way no other film ever has, by a long shot.

What I like from Denis Villeneuve film is his world building, Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, and Dune, has distinct 'vibe' through the visual and story telling that drawn me to his sci-fi world..

The most exciting part about any video on Denis Villeneuve is how are they going to butcher his name 😂😂😂

This coming out a mere hours before the Dune Part2 review embargoes lifted is NO coincidence and the film is now sitting at a 97% positive on RottenTomatoes with an AVERAGE review score of 8.6/10 based on 115 reviews for reference the average review score of LOTR Return of the King is 8.7/10 on RT making Dune Part2 not only Villeneuve's highest rated film film on RT but one of the highest rated science fiction/fantasy films ever on Rotten Tomatoes just let that sink in.

"Arrival"... A fitting title for his very 1st film in the Sci-Fi genre. Actually, as mentioned in this clip, he's more like the prodigal son coming back to his home roots (like the biblical parable lol)

Beautiful video mate.

Every film Denis has made has changed my life in a different way. Dune part 2 was a masterpiece, and I’m ecstatic for whatever he’ll make next.
