What if the Sun exploded? What would we do? What would it cause?

Right now the sun is about 4.6 billion years old, half way through its lifespan of about 10 billion years, only expected to last about another 5 billion years.

It has been theorized that the Sun will expand, becoming a red giant. Then it will shrink to become a white dwarf, a dying star, cooling for the next several billion years. What happens after that who knows! What happens though if it blows up before that!
