That is one way to keep your lineman's up without it falling. If you were to slip and fall, would your gear tie hold your weight, and would your lineman's belt open up? On a girth hitched tether a gear tie is very safe. Where you tie your gear tie on your lineman's belt, I tie a climbing rated prussic knot with a climbing rated caribeaner. I clip the caribeaner onto the opposite side of the rope, as close to the tree as you do. I feel it's extremely safe and easy. Thanks Man!!

Why would you use a saddle when you can use a climbing stand? They came out in 80s but we didn't use them because climbing stand was lighter and didn't make nearly the noise
