NASSCOM Annual Technology Conference 2022

The craze for virtual spaces in The Metaverse hasn’t died since then.

I believe technology is going to move from just a pure tech side to a very experience side of things as we move along.

And this session of mine with Nasscom, I want to take you through practically showcasing what exactly is all about Metaverse. In just a few minutes we covered 2 Top most Metaverse Platforms Spatial and Decentraland.

Here’s a quick recap of what sets these platforms apart:

Spatial - A centralized platform acting as a Metaverse co-founded by Anand Agarawala. A platform for 3D rendered models - In simple terms, you can now pick up your 3D Models, and place them into a Metaverse platform.

Let’s say, you have even a manufacturing digital twin created in your organization. Now you can pick up those machines and the digital twin and put them into Spatial and have your people come and collaborate on that 3D content as avatars.

Decentraland - A decentralized blockchain-based Metaverse built on the Ethereum blockchain co-founded by Esteban Ordano. It has its own currency called the Mana and is DAO operated i.e. Decentralized Autonomous Organization based company, you could only design and put elements that are approved as per the T&C of the DAO.

Decentralized elements are not real-time or hyper-realistic/ real look based. It's been designed in a certain pattern that resonates with Decentraland's whole idea of Metaverse.

Although I spoke at the NASSCOM summit a year back, technology has changed a lot. We have come a long way & definitely, there’s more to achieve in The Metaverse.
