An overview of an F5 BIG-IP device cluster in Azure using high availability and an Azure load balancer for failover method, and this time the Azure LB has Direct Server Return (DSR) enabled. A BIG-IP cluster setup with HA via LB will sit behind an Azure LB that handles traffic distribution to the BIG-IP devices. This can result in auto scale designs as well as active/active design scenarios.

Why should I use Azure LB in front of F5 LB? If I have public IP NATted to F5 VIP floating IP, what is the reason of using Azure LB in front? Is it only about some slow Azure reaction once primary F5 fails or something more?

/33? Nevertheless the concept is still not clear to me after listening, i need to know the configuration part and how DSR is playing the part here.

This is a great overview if you want to use the same IP on the Azure LB and the BIG-IP. Some times this makes things easier!
