Isn't beta distribution only applicable for random variables within [0, 1]? And gamma distribution seems more common for modeling duration of time,

Why do we use normal distribution to calculate the probability of the duration less than or equal to certain days, given that we already assumed that the duration is beta-PERT distributed?

Thank you, that's a very clear explanation. Can you tell us, how would we calculate the variance for the total duration if there are two or more critical paths?
