I love riding my ZX10R to places I've never been or on roads I've never ridden. Where you have taken a sport bike to or where do you plan to go on a sport bike road trip/tour in the future???? Hopefully you find this video useful or inspiring.

60 this year and been riding since I was 16. Your first two points are my top two also. The right frame of mind is critical, as is cruise control (hence I opted for the new gen 3 Hayabusa). One thing I won't do is stream music to listen to while I am riding. I drive trains for a living and in the cab it is forbidden. Years of this silence convinces me it makes you a way more attentive driver/rider, especially in traffic. Great video, sound advice.

Solid points all around. A few more:
- There are nice, secure tail/saddlebags designed for sportbikes, without an unsightly rack, like SW Motech Blaze. Bye-bye backpacks and bungees.
- Stop every 2 hours to move and most importantly hydrate. No hydration pack is needed on a sportbike, you'll want to stop regularly anyway.
- Even though you're on a sportbike, forget the leathers. There are amazing, waterproof textile jackets with liners that can accommodate the hot and cold parts of your journey.

As a trucker, stretch exits are critical on the long haul. Didn’t know they had a name. good video

Did the sport bike touring thing for 2 years, respect for you covering an insane amount of distance on that thing. I did eventually tire of it enough to simply get an ADV bike.

Agreed, on all points, including the order. I love sport bike touring. It's a great sense of accomplishment. Anybody could sit on a Road Glide all day with their coffee cup and heated seat and giant windshield. Not just anybody can sit on a sport bike all day. It's incentive to keep my 47 yo body in shape. Also, how bad would it suck to hit an epic twisty road and not be able to enjoy it without grinding your floorboards down to nothing? As one of my favourite YouTubers (TortureTestMagazine) says..."Embrace the suck".

All top points...and I ride a tourer. Back in the day...4 decades ago 1000km (620 miles) days was the normal day run on a road tour. I did a road tour 5 years ago and found that the mind was willing, however the body had different ideas, so I limited the days to 700km (430 miles) per day (lot's of stops, particularly in the afternoons). Cheers

Much respect to anyone who can tour in that seating position I’d be crippled in no time. Rok straps replaced bungys for me decades ago.

I am so glad I came across this video. I love Sportbikes like you and have 2018 zx10 and am planning on going to Arkansas, staying in Eureka Springs, and then exploring the twisties. I dont have a throttle lock yet on my bike so I know how painful it is to ride without one. Good advice on the top 5. I will do a search for a good quality Throttle locker.

Just did a a trip on May 12th to 15th of 2022 from Arkansas/Oklahoma state line across Tennessee, Dragon, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and some Mississippi then back home. All this on a 2011 Hayabusa. All totalled just a tick over 2100 miles. My bike has 1inch bar risers and that's it, everything else is stock as far as rider comfort. The stock seat is great, even for a long day, 750 miles the first day and realistically could have gone more with no problem. USB charger and Ram Lock phone holder are the only other amenities on the bike. I make sure I'm very comfortable in my gear before i leave on a ride because that will play into your mindset while riding. What it ultimately boils down to is the joy of riding, that's it, i love to ride and we here in Arkansas are blessed with some of the best roding roads anywhere. #For the love of riding. Good tip video.

I rode my Buell XB9SX to NC from TX...you're point about "marathon" is dead on. Throttle lock is a must! HYDRATION is the only thing I'd add to your list.

Careful with the bungies. My brother was going 70 mph, his back tire locked up, loose bungy. Luckily, he controlled the skid into the slight distance between the barrier and the car in front of him. In Boston.

I definetely strap my backpack to the Rack on big trips. I also have breaks every 2 hours.

Thank for the advice.looking forward on going on a bike trip and I love your video. I have 2023 cfmoto 300nk and I would like to go for a trip to Colorado on it. That would be interesting for me it would be my first time. I just bought my bike in November of last year. Still breaking it in.

I don’t ride a street bike, but your video was very informative. I was mainly looking for ideas to pack light. But I got a lot more. Thanks.

Incorrect, my bike is a sprint, a triumph sprint 😉😂 great points mate especially the stretch exits, although in the UK that would involve traffic lights which would really delay the journey but to be honest I just stretch whilst riding, although it’s tough as I always have a pillion when I tour

Just got a ZX6R, been thinking of doing something similar, but more off-roady, just some packed dirt roads to get me to camp sites, much like the road at the end of this video. Thinking of getting another set of wheels with some 80/20 adventure tires on it. If throttle lock is the poor man's cruise control, i have the poverty man's throttle lock, just a throttle paddle thing that rests on your wrist so you don't have to grip the throttle.
