Introduction to Lubrication system | Skill-Lync

Показать описание
You might know that automobiles require periodical changing of oil for maintenance. You know the reason behind that right?
Yes, it is done for lubrication.
In this video, we have explained what lubrication is, why it is necessary, what are the properties that a lubricant must possess, types of lubricant and the types of engine lubrication systems.
Whenever two surfaces move over one another, there will be friction. Friction results in excess heat generation, wear of the parts and unwanted noise. All these things together decrease the performance of the engine or the concerned machine. To avoid this, lubrication is necessary.
For achieving this, the lubricant should possess some properties like viscosity, flame point, fire point, cloud point, oiliness, film strength, anti-corrosiveness, physical and chemical stability.
Lubricants can be generally classified into four types. They are animal oils, vegetable oils, mineral oils and synthetic oils. Of these four types, mineral oils and vegetable oils are highly preferred as engine lubricants.
Lubrication systems for engines can be classified into Mist Lubrication System, Wet Sump Lubrication System and Dry Sump Lubrication System. We will discuss all those types in another video.
Stay tuned.
