Polyweb vs Optiweb vs Nanoweb Elixir Guitar Strings

In this video I reveal which Elixir guitar strings are the best (no doubt). I also reveal which strings lead to scratchy frets when bending strings.

I've known this for years. It's the old "invention of the light bulb" scenario.
Make an everlasting bulb and your sure to go bankrupt. (Repeat sales) they invented polyweb and they were good (too good) so they had to back pedal and came up with a "better" string with a thinner coating of the same stuff. It wore out quicker and they sold more strings. However; savvy guitarists were not fooled and insisted on they bring back the PW. They did. But would only sell online (try and get PW at the shop!) The annoying guitar know all then talks up the nano (knowing full well it's BS ) steers you too the checkout with the NW "super strings" and and thank you and see you in two weeks.
To quote George Castanza. Who gets their car serviced at a dealership? Why don't you just flush your money down the toilet?.
Why get your guitar strings from a guitar shop?. 👀🤔

My man, this is so random but I have to point it out! You look like the lovechild of Serj Tankian of S.O.A.D. and a Greek philosopher from old paintings, and I mean this in the coolest way possible! 🤘😎 You're bringing true wisdom to guitar playing!

Not much of discovery except that you are blaming your purchasing problem on the strings. Optiweb have the thinnest coating and closely resemble an uncoated string. If you are getting scratchiness with optiweb then you would be getting scratchiness with non coated strings. this would point to the frets needing to be polished. the answer to that is steel wool. it doesn't matter if the guitars are new, they blast them through the factory with a remedial polishing job. I polish my frets every year as strings do scratch up the frets. nanoweb has a slightly thicker coating and last longer. polyweb are the darkest sounding with even more coating. all of their strings start out the same and they just use different coatings in the production process.

This vid struck my attention few weeks ago, I tested Optiweb and Nanoweb and Chad is accurate on everything, I must add that I prefer Optiweb precisely for the "scratchy" particularity, I wouldn't say that Elixir screwed up 🙂. I wouldn't want that "scratchy" particularity for Jazz but it's just perfect for Rock and Metal.

I use Elixir Polyweb strings on all of my guitars. On my Ibanez RG450 I have a set going on about 2 years now and they still sound beautiful. Nice vid!

I don't normally break strings and I've used elixirs for over 3 years and I tried the optiweb 3-4 times and everytime my high strings (G, B, e) always broke and I don't know why. ONLY with the optiwebs. Now I'm using D'addario xs 9-42 and they sound better and they never break. Even if I want to.

It's a question of taste. I tried both poly and nano on my Ibanez RG prestige. Personally, I prefer the nano as they are the best of both worlds. On a 9 gauge set, at least, the poly feels too way superficial under my fingers. They do last long though.

The plain strings on all three types - poly, nano and opti - are the identical Anti-rust plain strings and the only ones they make. So I think it must be your imagination if you’re experiencing something different on the plain string bends across different sets.

Man.. i was researching the crap out of this last night funnily enough. Pollyweb it is. What guages are you running ? 10s ?

Which are the strings who last longer between Poly, Nano, and Opti?

Elixir optiweb is BY FAR best sounding clear string. Tried various EB slinky's, cobalts, Daddario NXL, Hgs Boomers, and others... gauges 9-46, 10-52... NOTHING COMES CLOSE TO ELIXIR. Thing is just that you haveto replace them often... afterall who the f* plays same strings for two months?😮😊

Uninformed video. The "scratchiness" you're referring to comes from unpolished frets, not strings, regardless if they're coated or not.

You're comparing a fat girl to a skinny girl, while ignoring the normal sized girl in your comparison.

not a comparison, lol Nanoweb "or whatever, that's not very good either"... Somehow I'm not convinced you know what you're talking about.
