I’m from Somalia and it’s quite weird that my country is so arid even though it’s on the equator and the eastern side of the continent. Which usually means that it should be quite wet( like in eastern South America, Asia and Australia)

the flora and the fauna of the Somali desert is rich and diverse and is very identical to the Kalahari desert's flora and fauna. your assumption of it being empty is unfounded. also, it is not a true desert but just like the Kalahari a semi-arid ecoregion.

The entire Horn is Somali and in fact was called that always. Only in recent times after colonialism they started to add these other countries because the Somali regions got added to Ethiopia and Kenya which are Somali inhabited

A fact not mentioned in this video is that Somali ethic reside in the largest land mass in the Horn of Africa; from Djibouti, Somali region of Ethiopia, North Eastern region of Kenya, to the Federal Republic of Somalia - together known as THE GREATER SOMALIA.
