Dear Internet:

Fuck Laptops.

Thank You.

Kyle you should try putting a Blower fan in place of the 120mm you have next to the Fury Nano. Since blower fans shot air sideways maybe you could lower temps by having air blown directly into the Nano's fan.

Why bother with QuadHD res when you can have a 100fps+ 1080p with less thermal impact.
Just a suggestion.
It's a travelling setup no reason to push QuadHD with high temps remember your ambient temperature, if you have a hot 30ºC environment your numbers will be a lot worse.

I see no difference in quality between 1080p and 480p on the video made with the camera. Update: Is your webcam only 480p?

can we get an update on this build. i'm particularly interested in how it faired as a workstation/ editing machine in terms of temps and noise. What other Graphics card would you consider replacing the R9 nano with?

If you were to do this again, would you still pick the Nictua low profile cooler? If no, what other air cooler you would go with?

Destination Gamer ProTip: Take only your computer, mouse & kbrd with you, then purchase a baller monitor at destination, returning it after the event. What!? Who'd do that?

I have the fury x and the overclocking of the HBM is tedious i can get 70mhz out of it but in saying that the bandwidth is so massive that overclocking it is pointless. It swaps out textures so fast it isn't needed so I just run it at stock speeds

Kyle, did you try try manually finding the lowest voltage possible for your CPU to hit stock clock speeds? I was able to drop voltage on my 4790k by 0.1v whilst still being 100% stable at 4400MHz, I don't know much about sky lake but it could worth having a look at!

Hi Kyle - why don't you undervolt the CPU, if you have temperature issues at stock settings? From my experience with Intel CPUs you can lower the VCore between 0.08 - 0.18 V without losing stability at stock speeds. Ofc that all depends on the silicon lottery. Temperature wise that should bring you down around 10°C at least.

i believe that you have a 65w tdp cooler on your cpu. i apologize if i'm wrong but i think your cpu is a little undercooled

Any update on that wall mounted gaming desktop you built? I'm considering doing the same. Any thoughts on what you would do different next build?

How much was your budget for this build? and would you be able to run design software (as photoshop and mangastudio) and wacom software/hardware? as well as games like overwatch and or Dark souls 3 on this?
P.S: im a noob when it comes to building pcs, but i want to build one thats easy to take around and that can run everithing i need... thx for any help

I would recommend the Scythe Big Shuriken 2 (rev.B) CPU cooler for this case. It fits perfectly, even without removing the top dust filter. I'm using an i7 7700K with G.Skill Ripjaws 4 RAM (40mm tall) and there was no RAM clearance issues either. While stress testing the CPU under full load, temps never got hotter than 65c and idles in the 30's. I was previously using the Noctua NH-L9i and temps would spike to the 90's under load. I should have bought the Big Shuriken cooler first.

I recently built a system in this case with a 6700K. used the stock cooler from an i5 and the temps were horrible. switched it out for a Scythe Kozuti 40mm cooler and additional 15mm fan. temps are below 80c now with a custom CPU fan curve. also, great video Kyle!

Great case. Got a 750 ti and a 4770 non k in mine, stock cpu fan and NO case fan. Super quiet. 65-70c under load for the cpu. So I say it's a winner.

I feel like one thing you could try which might help nicely with the 6700k temps is to undervolt the processor. This should reduce temps and may even allow a marginal overclock.

I've got a Broadwell i5 which will stay locked at rated turbo on all cores with a 0.05v undervolt, which reduced temps compared to stock voltage by 5-10 degrees.

Perhaps this may be achievable with a 6700 since I believe it does not require a k sku to get all cores to rated turbo?

Is there anyway to add a small aio cpu cooler to help keep the cpu cooler so you have more over clocking headroom
