Phaka means phakama. Phakama means to stand up for the number. That means that one have to stab someone to make the number strong - after it has been weakened by some incident - like the warder snatching the money or drugs from the number gangster.

Im not a gang member but i stayed in Leeuwkop, Groenpunt, Sonderwater maximumprison and also in borksburg but things dont work like that in those prison. In WC prisoners are more dangerous because even outside they are members of gangs
