This process can be a little confusing because so many different supplies are coming in at different times from different places. Awesome video Tim, another one outta the park! I set up a spreadsheet to track my costs and I started to get a little stuck on the shipping I paid as well. I felt my average was a little low and even though I have a Candle Science warehouse here (in No. NV), unless I order more than $50 of product at a time, I have to pay them so I can pick it up! So, the cheaper option believe it or not is actually to have them ship it across town to me. So your math and methods are very in line with what I have too. Thank you so much Tim, you give so much to this industry and more importantly? You are a great teacher! :-)

I want you to know, it will bless others. I will make the candles and add them to the veterans gift boxes I make for a few veterans organizations, free, each year. I started watching your tutorials to learn to make candles to add the the bath and body product gift boxes that ONLY veterans can receive from me. I even make the boxes they are in, and the cards that go in them. No 2 are the same. Keeping them from my heart and personal. It's not much, but, it's my thank you to them.

This is all good information, but I am wondering why you didn't add in all the other costs involved such as cost of running a website, paying for quickbook or an accountant if you have one, your labor or an employee's pay, insurance, utilities, rent etc.? Don't all those costs figure into the price as well? You wouldn't dare start a candle business without proper insurance and business licenses, filing a DBA or LLC and so forth.

What are the best places to find legal information such as is there any required ASTM standard testing for how clean they burn in order to sell them or such things like that? I would greatly appreciate if you could point me in the right direction.

Thank you for making this video; the first thing I actually did was price the candles with an educated guess. I have all my supplies to make the candles however haven't started as I'm nervous. I'm nervous about how much scent to put in. I don't want to put not enough but at the same time I don't want to waste it as it's expensive. To start with I probably will only making 1 candle at a time. I have 5 different size jars. I believe you said in a previous video 2oz scent to a lb of wax if I remember correctly. Hopefully eventually I will me making larger batches as I start to sell more candles. Again, thanks for your help!!! :)
