What a great photo at 1:35. In all my years of WW2 research, I'm surprised that I've never seen it before.

A valuable perspective, you sense that he knew the end was coming, vet he remained objective.

Hello there, I am deeply grateful for the diary entries from the German Infantry and SS troops.
I am the third born in this country from a German, Czechoslovakian, Polish family. Though my Grandfather on my father's side was in the U.S.
Army and part of the Persian gulf command during the war we also had family (that I haven't ever met) who served in the German forces during the war as well. When I discovered your channel and started to listen to the diary entries they instantly affected me deeply and emotionally. I know that although I hadn't ever met that part of my family I know that I felt on a cellular level my connection to them very deeply.
These diary entries help me to understand what my family went through. I have been told by my Grandfather some of what he experienced during the war and because of your dedication and work on your channel to give a voice to those who fought and to those fought and had their lives tragically cut short I am forever grateful to you because without your help I would never have known what the other side of my family had experienced. My father and his older brother served in Vietnam so my family has gone through such pain because of war and I have learned through them that the pain of war cannot exceed the woe of aftermath. Meaning that when you go through such times it isn't until you get back home that it all comes crashing down. And the families then have to help the returning veterans cope and go through the harrowing process of healing the psychological and emotional damage done to them. the way I see it not only are the men who fought veterans but so are the families that are affected by and help pick up the pieces of their loved ones shattered lives. Because of what my family has gone through, on both sides, and because I had the unfortunate experience of witnessing on a beautiful Tuesday morning on September the 11th 2001, from just a couple of blocks away, to my horror of watching innocent lives being taken before my eyes on such a massive and violent scale that I am still dealing with to this very day, I can't believe that humanity still hasn't the understanding or foresight to stop the bloodshed and warmongering by now!?!
And with that I would like to say thank you for what you do to help people see and possibly understand what young men had gone through in the time of war. God Bless You and Keep You Well. ✌️&❤️

Yes, it’s real thoughts & words from a real soldier. The narration is great too. It helps visualize the things that are happening. It’s all mind-blowing imagining them enduring this war every single day, on & on. It seems like they get so numb to it that it becomes normal. 😵‍💫

Great video. It seems the Red Air Force was always a problem despite its losses. Obviously the Luftwaffe couldn't be everywhere at once.👍

Early in my life, we were taught about initial overwhelming advances of the German army into the Soviet's territory with poor resistance. This is another example of how the fighting was difficult already from the very beginning.

Sad. Just an average guy fighting for what he had been convinced was right, the greater good. Invoked gods help, not an evil person. Let us all question what our leaders tell us and demand honesty and accountability from them

Given that in just over 20 years the USSR had been through two revolutions, a “ civil” war, against a western backed force, famine, the purge of its officer class and the Finnish debacle the fact that in 4 years the USSR took Berlin was an incredible achievement

Even victorious armies suffer steady attrition and this is what halted the Germans. The supposed 6 week war only happened if everything went right and the Russians did not resist.

Grazie molto ben fatto e molto interessante. Penso a questi poveri ragazzi, accumulati da un unico ed inesorabile destino, la morte..😢

At 5:09 He says that they were given 75mm AT gun. I thought Germans only had 37mm AT guns in 1941. 75mm PAKS came later in the war.
