This Quick Thursday Tip on PowerApps Distinct Dropdown has it all. If you aren't familiar with Distinct then it introduces you to the concept of getting all of the unique values from a table to help with filtering. If you are then it includes nerd stuff 🤓 like dynamically using an UnGroup function to add all to dropdown options. 😮 Enjoy!

The ungroup feature is so good! I've been struggling with the Power Up Program final app assignment and this has helped a LOT, thank you, Shane.

This is an amazing video! all 13 and half minutes are brilliant. Explanation for newly produced "Result" column (from distinct function) used by the SortByColumns() function in the dropdown box is excellent!

Jesus Christ. I was so frustrated with this not working until i found out that in My case it is "Value" and not "Result". Then all worked like a charm. THX 👏👏

Thank you so much for this video - the UnGroup tip at the end is fantastic. I've been struggling for weeks how to show "All" when filtering.
Now I need to figure out how to do that with 2 dropdowns and 1 text search fiel at the same time ;-)

The Ungroup suggestion was useful for me. I have wanted to Sort a list of Companies but to still keep our company at the top. The Ungroup combined with Table function can achieve this.

Hey Shane, Thank you for the video. I do see when you used distinct the value of Janitorial is repeating, I am facing the same issue with my data set. How did you go about resolving that? Thank you again

Hi Shane
I'm having trouble with an exceptionally basic task using filter and OR.

I have a table with 5 columns.

I want to sort my gallery using a dropdown for 2 of these columns (employee and department). I want to either filter by employee, or department, or both.

I'm using Filter(table, This works fine to filter employees.

If I add "...selected.employee, it is then only filtering on the "employee" dropbox WITH the option in the department dropbox.

Driving me mad!

Shane, how are you?

You could make videos about using groupby with ungroup + AddColumns.

Thanks a lit Shane. This was helpful. Question: Is there a workaround for Distinct to resolve the delegation issue? I have a large set of data in SharePoint that I need to grab distinct values for. Thanks

If I have a a table with various names and points in a column how can I get the distinct names with its values ?

Great video. But do you know a workaround for Distinct if I need to get the unique values from 3000+ row data source?

Wish it had worked for me using Dataverse table as source that has ~8, 000 rows. Any suggestions?
