I am watching this in 2022. 📷 and using this camera with an external mic for my content. Experiencing the same limitations on the autofocus for video. I don't like the 1080 25fps limitation. On the higher iso settings >1600 I easly get noice in the video. Build quality is good.
Now i am thinking of moving on, to a Sony for my video's.

I got this camera a couple of months ago, it's a great camera for beginners and good enough for youtube and sit down videos. I love the quality of the image. I added a microphone and the sound is amazing, it's not too bad by itself tbh.
I tried vlogging with it as you said it's not too stable, but with editing and adding a stabilizer effect, it fixed it a little.
The auto focus is fine but can be a little annoying as sometimes it can go in and out of focus.
Overall I think it's a good enough camera for videos, as I mostly use it for that. It's better quality than most phones, for the price it's amazing, I got it used for 250$ only with the kit lens. And of course choosing a good lens with it will better the quality and experience.

I got a 70D not long after they came out but rarely use for video and the photos it takes are excellent. I’ve thought about upgrading but there’s little point for me so bought a drone instead. The aerial videos and photos are amazing over what a higher spec camera could provide.
