small tip, fabricate some hanger like devices so you can spray the whole thing at once. I use some copper wire or a hanger that's cut up. you can hang them from a ladder or a tree or anything really. I used to use a ladder that bends into a scaffold to hang my freshly painted car parts.

for more in dept tricks for the viewers, Sanding the surface will make it that the primer will take longer to peel off from the surface (loss of elasticity over time(critical surface tension) its like puting some velcro under your primer. you especially want to do this the smoother the stuff your painting is, if it feels slipery to the finger, it will peel fast, it it feel rough, chance's are it'll never peel off.
If its going outside, sand the primer with 400 or 600 grit, so the paint dont peel :)

It's called Methylated spirits in the UK, often called denatured alcohol in other parts of the world.

I've never spray painted anything in my life, this was really clearly explained and helpful, thankyou!

Excellent video again...providing good basics for DIYER'S. A great tip to remind users to invert the can after completing the job to help keep the nozzle clear for next job.

As a US American it's so cool to hear a Manchester accent relating to metal. Best knives I own are Sheffield steel.

Rustoleum has always worked for me---just painted some steel beams today. I remove the nozzle and place it in the paint cap, with mineral spirits, to soak it clean. This uses a small amount of spirits (less than a shot glass).

It depends really, it will not stick to the galvanised part of the case well unless you prime it first. It might be suitable for over painting the existing painted parts but you would have to test it out first as some cases are powder coated, not painted.

This has been great help, thanks! I'm going to buy a metal + plastic primer for my project. Thanks again.

Excellent finish and I have to say, I've never been taught to invert the spray like that to stop the nozzle from getting blocked. Nice tip you're worth your weight in gold (or paint)?

Hi, I want to paint a metal bed frame which is brand new and painted white. Do I need to strip off the existing white paint? Or do you think I would be good to prime and paint the colour of my choice. How would you do it? Thanks in advance :)

Spraying inverted to clear the nozzle wastes gas and eventually the gas will run out and there is still paint left in the can. I had this happen to me, I after every use did the inverted spray and after some time the gas run out and had still paint inside. So I think it is better to refer from doing this, and if the nozzle gets clogged just submerge it in paint thinner to clean it, I think rustoleum cans say to do this if the nozzle gets clogged

I use the Red Scotch Brite to prepare the metal and clean it with acetone before i start to spray with Rust-oleum spray primer and paint. Thank for sharing your wisdom!

Brake cleaner works pretty good for removing oil and grease pre painting, dries fast and leaves no residue, carb cleaner would probably work similar.

Hey guys I'm gonna be painting and old knife with some paint on it. Should I stand all the old paint off first? Thanks in advance.

Some great tips! Giving my old drum kit a custom finish, gonna have a go at giving the metal hardware a black and gold finish. Is the rustoleum fairly durable? Thanks!

He's right - one of the most important things when spray-painting anything is lots of very light coats, and not fewer heavy coats. It's a pain in the arse and it's easy to get impatient but you WILL regret it otherwise.

Thanks a lot for the guidance. I did precisely what you showed in this video, and my piece of furniture turned out excellent. I appreciate it!
