I've owned a few of the SmallHD monitors, including the original Focus and the HiBright 7inch version. I got rid of them because of challenges with my Canon C300 Mark II, when I attempted to send out from what the camera was seeing, it didn't always work. The menu while in concept seems like a great option, it is not as practical as it is on Atomos monitors. But the build quality is second to none and for all the Non-Canon shooters, I bet this monitor is awesome.

Is it still worth buying this monitor for gimbal work, or is there a better option?

I contacted SmallHD and asked them if they had any plans to make this touchscreen monitor compatible with Canon's DPAF. Their response: "Thank you for reaching out to us here at SmallHD, and yes with our new Focus Cine 7 it will have camera control on the monitor. At this time we only the license for Arri. Once we get the license from Canon it will be added on the monitor with a firmware update. We do not have a time table on when that will be, sorry about this! " - This for me would make it the ultimate monitor for the C200.

Thanks for the video Rubidium. It appears you are having the same issue as me with the ninja v. When you did the grade in davinci the grade looked great and then lut on the monitor appeared more contrasty. Does it seem that way to you? I feel like even though it is set to clog 3 in camera it outputs to the monitor a wide DR image.

I just got back from a job and could not get the Small HD focus 5 to show the full screen of the A7III as it does on my a6500. I tried 4k and 1080 60p and the monitor would only show the mirrored image of the a7III with the menu's and not the full screen of the A7III? Anybody know why that is? I shoot on my a6500 a lot and it does use the whole monitor space... Any suggestions?

What do you think about this over the smallhd with two HDMI like the 702( for wire transmission), or the 7” atomos?

Are you using a black pro mist filter or something like it?
