Ex-NBA Star Matt Barnes Battles Opossum in His Kitchen

It's an epic battle between a man and a marsupial when retired NBA star Matt Barnes found a pesky opossum hiding in his kitchen. Barnes wants the possum to scram but the critter is not in any rush. From his cardboard fortress, Barnes tries everything to get the opossum to leave. The opossum finally left the former NBA star’s home. Animal experts say opossums can carry a variety of diseases. If one ends up in your home, call animal control.

Had a pet possum when I was in college. A classmate had rescued and raised a litter after the mama has killed. My mother used to carry Pierre O'Possum around in her duster pocket while doing housework. They make pretty good pets.

It wasn't taking a rest. They freeze up and play dead when scared, so making noise probably makes things worse. Luckily the water "unfroze" it.

Honestly, this is adorable. Big huge dude scared of a little possum! He did his best to be sure it safely got out too. Good on him for at least not hurting the lil guy!

They usually move when they don’t see anyone. Twice I had to rescue 2 opossums and both times I had to put a towel over the cage and leave the front open and they would get out fast .
