"You don't know you're beautiful. That's what makes you beautiful." - One Direction

Reminds me of a quote from Jung's Red Book. "The devil knows what is beautiful, and hence he is the shadow of beauty and follows it everywhere, awaiting the moment when the beautiful, writhing great with child, seeks to give life to the God."

I checked it earlier today and it was at $307k. I just looked and it was $432k! That’s amazing. May God bless every cent of it and all those contributing.

Your connection between [Snow White ⟩ Beauty] & [Eve ⟩ Godliness] was also made by Lewis, in Perelandra: at one point in the story, the serpent figure adds supplemental beauty to the Eve/Queen figure (having created said supplements through the killing of harmless, innocent animals), presents her with her own reflection, and tries to convince her that she is now more beautiful than before…

another layer that's touched on but could be explored more is the added awareness of what beauty is or could be and how it can be "improved", the self-awareness that one is beautiful or could be even more beautiful. in the wise words of one direction, "you don't know you're beautiful. that's what makes you beautiful" one direction did a disservice to a whole generation of young girls by exposing this simple secret out in the open thereby making it no longer true for the women who hear it and are enticed by the flattery thinking it applies to them, mainly because by accepting flattery and becoming self-aware in this way, it's like taking the apple in that it spoils the beauty and replaces it with pride, which is an inner ugliness and a rot at the core, not to mention a parasite to humility and good character. but despite that still, this one direction line remains true for those women who don't take the apple nor think it applies to them, which is the beauty of unknown beauty. once the unknown beauty becomes known—or worse, it becomes altered—it spoils that unknown beauty, which is the scheme attempted in the story.

there's an element of disappointment and emptiness in giving someone a compliment on something they've already heard a thousand times, i.e. the compliment adds no value and the thousand compliments that came before take away from the value of the person's surprise and intrigue which they maintain if they haven't heard and/or accepted the compliment before, i.e. they keep their innocence. if not, the admirer becomes one out of X number of admirers from the past, a vapour in the sea. if they keep their innocence they may even also keep their ignorance because one element of the forbidden fruit in the garden of eden story is that it spoils a good kind of ignorance and makes one self-aware in such a bad and destructive way by destroying innocence itself. the inner beauty of humility and good character can be altered now that this beauty is made known, which is what the snake and the witch's intent was all along: to introduce imperfection to perfection or ugliness to beauty.

This doesn't apply to new or experienced actors and models who get paid acting gigs or TFP. Yet we are labeled as narcissist's.

Does Pride play a role here? Overly conscious about one’s beauty can lead to pride, a major reason to a lot of women’s downfall.

Something this meticulously made cannot pretend to have inserted revisionist diversity into the crucial element of the visual part of the story on accident, nor can the authors pretend to be unaware of it being a point of contention in the current cultural conflict. It is neither neutral nor negligible, it is in fact a very loaded image, which doesn't even have the justification of being relevant to the story, as it may have been in say a rendition of the 1001 nights cycle.

I have enough of this kind of visual messaging in the deconstructive cultural product coming down on me through the gutter of the mainstream to be backing it in a project that purports to stem the tide of subversion.

Nor is it exactly pleasant to be made aware of this aspect of the art direction in the eleventh hour, though at least it's not after the run had already closed, which gives me just enough time to withdraw my support.
