A major moment in Duke University School of Nursing history happened on Thursday, April 10, with a dedication ceremony for the newly-completed, 45,000-square-foot wing designed to prepare the next generation of healthcare leaders.
New classrooms, study spaces, state-of-the-art technology and simulation labs in the Christine Siegler Pearson Building were showcased to kick off Nursing Reunion Weekend 2014.
The building dedication included remarks from Richard Brodhead, president of Duke University; Victor Dzau, chancellor of health affairs at Duke University; Susan Schneider, chair of the School's Faculty Governance Association; and Christine Madubueze (BSN 2014), vice president of the School of Nursing Student Council.
The 18-month, $23 million project gives the Pearson Building a total of 107,000 square feet. The original Pearson Building was opened in 2006 but the rapid growth of the School's programs, faculty and student body necessitated the expansion.
