GREEK MYTHOLOGY: The Gigantomachy - The War of the Giants vs Olympian Gods

The Gigantes are the giants of Greek Mythology. The Children of Gaia, the earth mother, in this tale they rebelled at her instigation against Zeus and his rule. Told from the perspective of both Gaia and Zeus this video includes the epic tale of the war between the Giants and the Olympian gods known as ' The Gigantomachy'

Living Mythology is an attempt to entertain, relax and educate all in the one place. We are trying to forge narratives so that people can experience the religions and mythologies of the world as they were meant to be. Not as dry academic monoliths, but as living breathing tales and parables as experienced by the peoples who worshipped these beings, in an attempt to make sense of their own lives and the world around them.

This channel is in its infancy, so we hope to improve and develop it as we gain more experience.

All of the tales are taken from very conflicting traditions across many centuries, so there will be many a moment when decisions need to be made to create a more cohesive narrative. If we present something that seems to be in contrast to details, rest assured we have researched many forms of the traditions and come to the conclusions we have done to form the videos.
There will NEVER be total agreement on any of these narratives due to the history and differing ways they developed over the centuries.
These videos are for entertainment and an easy gateway to the subject. If you wish more academic details then please direct your attention to the wide source material and others who perform those types of academic video essays.

This was a great video. ❤

The only part I was curious about was Hera's uncharacteristic loving tone and consolation she had towards Zeus.
I'm pretty sure she hated her husband with every fiber of her being _(and for good reason);_
He actually _tricked_ her into marrying him.

What could be better than a war between gods and giants? It being narrated by Baldermort and Family of course!

I think Zeus made a mistake when he punished humanity, he ignored the fact that we are just a part of nature as everything else is. He only saw the destructive potential in us, instead of guiding us towards a moral approach to the environment, he just saw us as a nasty afterthought. I like that Gea intervened on our behalf, even though, if she just talked to Zeus instead of going on a rampage, things may have turned differently. I am waiting for Typhon and hopefully for the Egyptian gods to make their appearence.

I greatly appreciate the effort and care the two of you take to retell the old stories. To breathe such life into these legends, you make the title of Living Mythology an understatement

The time and care that you two put into retelling the old tales is very appreciated. The moniker of Living Mythology is hardly an exaggeration when you bring these legends to life in such a way.

Love how you addressed the absence of Heracles. Also super interested if you’ll cover the interaction between Tartarus and Gaia when they create Typhon. As this will be a single video I’m guessing this won’t be the version where Zeus is beaten in the 1st go around. Thanks again for such quality content.

Brilliant! I was literally in the palm of your hand for every second of that! Such subtle intensity, very very clever guys. Can't wait till next month. I wonder whose next. Hera's obsessive jealousy and hatred of anyone that catches Zeus ' eye. Her hatred for Heracles is worth at mention. She inspired his ordeals after all. Maybe a mini series about the Odyssey or an Iliad supersaga. What about the other pantheons? Odin, Thor, Loki.... Fenrir massive evil wolves that bite viking God's hands off... SO I know you're gonna crush it I can't wait! I love you guys!!

This is why zeus never says anything cross of his son's want of drink. The man is insanely perceptive, cunning, and has the bravery only someone sloshed to the eyeballs has.

"For were we not the same Gods that defeated the Titans..."
"I perceived a new Golden Era of our abject rule, all we had to do was grasp it"
"I bellowed out of instinct, pure rage"
"The fury of the Olympian Gods, was a thing of dread"

Great topic. Epic story telling. Seems to explain earthquakes and volcano and tsunami. Also prolly helps explains dinosaurs bones found everywhere especially with no understanding of fossilization and only knowing that buried bones disintegrate rather quickly. Thank u
