I’ve been to Dachau with my family. What remained at the time was the railroad tracks under the “Arbeit Macht Frei” (work will make you free) gate, the the main administration building with exhibits, two “barracks” buildings, the zyklon showers, the ovens, and for memorials there are two chapels and a synagogue. All these behind a quiet grove of trees. After walking the grounds and seeing the life size exhibits of piled hair, rings, gold teeth, shoes, and tattooed skins (the leftovers taken from the dead), left me angry and wondering why and how the Germans could have done this.

The same unit that killed the Dachau "guards" because they were so overcome by what they saw was the unit that killed the Italian POWs at the Biscari Massacre. That was an airbase in Sicily, not a concentration camp.

Dachau were prisoner camps with factories.
As the war went the camps deteriorated resources were few.
This prisoners reminded me of the USA civil war confederates left to starve in prisoners camp .and the destruction of civilian towns by Grant orders.
These guards were assassinated. Not executed.
The victor enjoy their thirst for human blood taking land property displacing Germans from their land.
Well. It never changes.
Since humans first war .
The victor sets the rules. And find fabricate excuses to assassinate destroy the ones that lost.
