Someone needs to send this to Renault 💀

Just remember that all the cars on track every session last year used less fuel than 1 transatlantic flight, bring back v10s and push biofuels

Yeah my Miata has a 1.6 liter engine too. You guys aren't that special

There was a time when F1 engines revved to 20, 000 RPM ! 👏 Those sound like jet engines & have a wail that's uniquely theirs 👍
When Cosworth was still a thing & F1 engines weren't rev-limited by regulations, their F1 engines were reputed to rev to 22, 000 RPM !
In 2007 the rev limit was restricted to 19, 000 RPM, in 2009 it was dropped, once again, to 18, 000 RPM - this was also when the number of engines a driver could use in a season was restricted to 8, which felt like madness at that time ! 🤣
When the "hybrid" engines were brought in, i.e. 2014, the rev limit was dropped to 15, 000 RPM 😭
In 2022, the engine RPM limit was dropped from the F1 engine regulations, but the fuel flow rate limits mean that the engines are indirectly limited to around 13, 000 RPM.

Great video, F1. Just one request: use metric units first, imperial second.

My man said, this engine produces an epic sound at 15, 000 rpm. He must be young and never heard a V10 screaming at 19, 000 rpm in person

A power unit is a unit of measurement that measures power of a certain object. For example: Watts/Horse Power

"let's lower our emissions staring with the engine of 20 cars, driving for a couple hours every other week, while flying thousands of tons of equipment around the globe 24 times a year" yea seems like a reasonable point to start with.

15k rpm is a bit lame if you've been following F1 for a while. These are electronically limited for power unit longevity. Cosworth produced a V8 that could rev to 20, 000 rpm 😮

3:17 That’s actually the world record set during a race back in 2016. Current regs mean the cars normally go up to ~330 km/h.

1:48 Obviously they showed Max Verstappen when referring to podiums

The v 10s reved up to 20.000. The new v6 is nothing compared to a v10, the v10 produced 1.000 plus horse power and it was only the power unit, not the e.r.s or turbo. It was pure power

50% efficiency that is with the MGU-H. But it's gonna get removed in 2026. So you're gonna get back to 35%.
I don't know why FIA is taking a step backwards just to accommodate Audi (allegedly). It will also introduce turbolag. Honestly, F1 is supposed to be the pinnacle of motorsports.

Literally zero people care about the fuel change in 2026 but F1 keeps reminding us. Also its comical how they said the Ethanol and new fuel is carbon neutral - because that is actually true for the fossil based fuels too. Someone needs to give this dude a science lesson in how fossil fuels were created.

Thanks for the explanation… I ain’t no engineer but I think this is enough for me to make an engine better than renaults

My desire and passion for engineering has never been greater, I might just say it increased exponentially after watching this. Simple but well-detailed, with great graphics. F1 is truly the pinnacle of motorsport and engineering at large. I just felt something ignite from within while watching. Great stuff, keep up with this innovation F1. This is how the world is changed through engineering technology for the betterment of society. So much to learn. Wow.
