2024 My Summer Stills

An encapsulation of reflection, appreciation, and hope.

Personal Notes:

I envisioned the structure and general idea for this project a few months ago. The end goal would be to condition myself to film with only a tripod, exercise different styles of color grading, compose and capture seemingly ordinary moments, and relay a few self-identified proverbs in an admittedly somewhat melodramatic compilation of footage that juxtaposes that of my infant days. Another cool outcome, just like any of my projects, is my friend's will have digitized memories of the time we've spent together. This project in general was to keep my production skills sharp and use it as a form of self expression.

Lane 8 - "Grapevine" is a song inspired by the infamous drive from the bay to LA. "Passing through the grapevine was a time to process the past, regrets, and disappointment, but also a moment where excitement about the future would really start to kick in." (Lane 8) I felt like my dual identity of building a life in both LA and the Bay made this song fitting considering I did this drive this summer and the same reflection that inspired the song also inspired this project.
