Size was very big for an adult, I repeated it again after reducing 10 stichs.

I read most of everyone’s very helpful comments and I ended up making my hat perfect to fit my head.
Instead of Ch 84, I did a Ch 70 to start. Hers was 21in and mine was also 21in.
When it came to dropping stitches, I started with counting 9 double crochet, adding next two stitches, 9 double crochet, adding next two stitches etc… then I did 8, 7, 6, 5, etc… as I went up. I would end up ending with an odd number of double crochet but in my opinion, you can’t even tell.
I also dropped my hook size from 5.5 (from yarn directions) to a 5. I also kept my tension tighter going up my tree to hopefully keep it upright. So far so good, this hat is adorable!

I loved this hat but mine came out large enough to fit an elephant head after the brim. I frogged the hat after 2 days work. I don't know what I did wrong. Your hat is the best looking for a Christmas tree hat.

I purchase this pattern from the link on here which directed me to etsy. At the end of my purchase they asked me to round up my purchase to donate to an organization. I am all about paying it forward so I donated. I received a email from my credit card that a separate invoice was incurred and it was only .13cents but then it said recurring. I can't see the writing for the hat colour. Do you always decrease on every other round by crocheting 7 then decrease untill the end?
