I understand the caller's statement that he had two elders in his church who disagreed about faith and works. Often, people are in agreement but don't realize it. For example, we know we are not saved by works, but faith without works is dead. Faith and works need to go together to be genuine. Someone can do good works for the wrong reasons, and therefore, he is not putting his faith in God.
