Hey Guys as requested here is a closer look at my finished rough sketchbooks. In all honestly i'm not proud of all the work i did in it but its silly for me to be afraid to show my progress and to be afraid of showing my mistakes!
Any suggestions on any arty stuff you would like me to try out, or if you have awesome artists or work for me to check out let me know in the comments .

This is reassuring. So many artists post their amazing stuff and it's easy to get discouraged that your own stuff isn't as good. But we all have rough sketches. We get better through perseverance. We can all do awesome art so long as we don't give up!!

To be honest, I prefer seeing artists showing their clean art and their messy art, just because it is showing growth, and it is real! That it's being more honest with yourself and being proud of even creating something super small and scribbly to creating a super masterpiece. It is growth, it's fun to see the thought process, to see the research you do. It makes the clean and amazing art work better. I personally try and use one sketchbook at a time, and I have both super messy art, to more fleshed out scribbles, to something more clean. I like seeing the difference between what I do in the same sketchbook. To see that yes, you can draw a messy, unfinished piece, but end up turning around and creating something so amazing. It's great to go back and forth in this creative world and mindset and literally do and create what you want and it doesn't matter as long as you are getting your ideas, feelings, thoughts, or whatever the case, down on paper. I love that you have opened up this side of you and your work Sophira! It is inspiring and let's everyone know that we aren't all perfect in what we do, and it is okay to have messy art. Thank you!

I've always been thinking about getting several sketchbooks for rough sketches, clean work and so on, but I always throw away that idea and have another system instead; a big sketchbook for home, a small sketchbook for taking it everywhere and some other ones for urban sketching, storyboarding and other stuff. And in every one of them there's clean and rough stuff all over the place, and somehow I like it! It gives me such a natural feeling, having everything next to each other and seperating anything🤔😍

I actually like seeing rough sketchbooks better than the more polished ones. I find them more inspiring to look at most of the time because there's so much stuff on the page and you can see all these different ideas the artist had running through their head.

I currently have three messy sketchbooks I'm working in. For the most part, I use super cheap sketchbooks for my rougher work and save the more expensive ones for when I want to work seriously on a piece. I just started doing that like maybe a year ago and its so much more freeing than just being confined to one sketchbook.

The memories from the first sketchbook are great xD my sketchbook is always rough I don't spend a lot of money on sketchbooks cause there mostly sloppy thumbnails or doodles xD Once in a while I'll make drawings to ink or color. I'll even add watercolor which kind of wrinkles my paper but when the sketchbook is full it looks really cool.

Thanks for sharing this honest sketch tour. I personally love seeing concept work (sometimes more than finished pieces, I always wanted to be a concept artist) but I can understand how showing these messy ideas can make an artist feel vulnerable. It's showing ideas, secrets, obsessions and things that we're weak at. Practices. It is like a diary. So I get that someone may not want to show their sketchbooks (I myself am incredibly shy at it) but I love it when they do and it inspires me to try and be less perfect, practice more and explore ideas to create all those dreams in my head.

I'm so glad you showed us these sketchbooks! I used to only use more expensive sketchbooks with good paper, which made me do less rough and quick sketching. Buying a cheaper sketchbook with more paper kind of freed me from thinking I need to do detailed and finished concepts all the time.

I generally don’t post on YouTube videos but I wanted to say, thank you. Thank you so much for posting this. I feel like artists get so discouraged seeing sketchbook tour videos and how clean and finished all the works are and even I feel pressured to make all sketches finished pieces.

Honest Sketchbook Tours are always the most inspiring, at least for me. Not sure why, maybe because they're so all over the place and full of young ideas. Thank you so much for sharing!

I've always struggled with keeping an actual sketchbook at all. Most of my sketches tended to be on loose paper because I could just chuck it in the bin or in a folder if I liked the ideas, but getting an actual sketchbook tended to be such a roadblock because I didn't want to "mess it up". Over the past couple of years though I've slowly been trying to turn my brain around and focus on actually using my sketchbooks (I have a ton of smaller ones for a variety of reasons) and actually not care and allow myself to be messy. So now I have an actual, dedicated sketchbook that I take with me everywhere and I've so far managed to fill up about a fourth of it and I couldn't be prouder of myself because it's messy as hell in some places, some places are crammed with stuff (mostly thumbnails) while others have a tiny doodle in the middle and that's it. And I'm allowing myself that. I think it has improved my art habits a lot, even though I don't draw nearly as much as I should. I mean, at least I'm drawing something!

Thanks for sharing your rough sketchbook! I certainly have a rough sketchbook where I experiment, try out ideas, and also do like 5 second concept sketches where I get out an idea down on paper. In some ways your rough sketch book is so much cleaner than mine! I loved that you showed this. :)

This is very helpful! My sketchbooks are mostly sketches and concept art. I love concept art or just some quick doodles. I know how you feel! I mistreated my sketchbooks because I wanted them perfect but a few days ago I started to realize that if I want to recorver from art block and to improve my art style, I'll have to treat my sketchbook the way it deserves to be treated
