Originally Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple was built by King Kulasekara Pandya (1190-1216 CE). He built the main Portions of the three-storeyed gopura at the entrance of Sundareswarar Shrine and the central portion of the Goddess Meenakshi Shrine are some of the earliest surviving parts of the temple. After Muslim invation lead by Malik Kafur, the temple was destroyed, later the temple was redisigned and reinnovate by Vishwanatha Nayak, a Hindu ruler, in the 16th and 17th century.

I saw Thanjavur temple and it amazed that I went again next day. Any day its never enough. I also saw Meenakshi temple in Madurai, OMG, mind blowing. Unlike the former, this one doesnt allow phones, camers inside temple premises

Why wasn't Ellora caves 1st on the list... Ellora caves is engineering marvel in today's world...not one temple in India has such a mind boggling engineering that even in modern world it would be impossible to build it.

We discover the distance between moon and sun thousands and thousands years ago in our holy Hanuman chalisa and back then they say India is a country of cows and dunks... Every year NASA and our 20 rs Panchang give same date and same time of every solar eclipse still no acknowledgement for us.
